Liposuction has become very popular especially in the presence of its use as an alternative to more radical surgeries like Tummy Tucks or Abdominoplasties. Liposuction essentially sucks or removes fat from an area making it more flat and more shapely according to the patients desire.
Liposuction comes in many forms and is achieved by different brand devices or technologies that a surgeon chooses. Some types are:
- Tumescent liposuction (fluid injection) This is where medication to numb pain and reduce inflammation are injected in and then mixed with fat and suctioned out.
- Super-wet technique. Similar to #1 but less fluid is used.
- Ultrasound-assisted liposuction (UAL). Uses Ultrasound waves to make liquefied fat easier to be suctioned out.
- Laser-assisted liposuction (LAL) Uses laser energy to liquefy fat cells making suctioning out fat easier.
To get the best results it is important to wear proper fitting compression garments, attend Lymphatic Drainage massages, drink lots of water, and receive fibrosis based treatments to avoid “lumpy and Bumpy” or contour irregularities after Liposuction. Despite the best procedure or surgeon, these “Lumps and Bumps” can still happen.
The Aspen After Surgery Center provides post op fibrosis or Lumpy and Bumpy treatment. Using hand on massage tools, Sound wave technology, and educating patients on proper garment wear and stretches, results are improved. This treatment is not only used to treat Fibrosis but prevent it. Treatments should start 2 weeks post op but can be started anytime “Lumpy and Bumpy” are seen. It is your best alternative especially if you’ve had Lipo and do not want more Liposuction to correct it. This can result in the same problem over and over.
